Thanks
As chair I wish to thank Derek Wilshere, other board members and the public who contributed to ECB activities while I was away on a personal journey in Asia. I was delighted that:
•Baring Head land is to be part of our East Harbour regional park and we support the houses being kept,
• Bus Barns ugrading at Korohiwa is nearly complete.
• Planning for Vibrant Village is going ahead.
• Rotary, Lions and indivduals are offering to work with the board to improve some beach areas and investigate establishing a Menz Shed in the village.
• the Winter Village Market goes ahead at theMuritai School Hall 22 August.
The near future
Eastbourne is a vibrant village and for that I thank all those who contribute in so many ways, long may it continue.
Would you give a thought to what contribution you can make over the next few years? It may be as an individual, a group, an organisation, or even as an elected councillor or member of the Easbourne Community Board.
ECB elections
These are part of local body elections. These elections are a postal vote from 17
th September till 9
th October. Formal nominations are needed by 20
th August. Details will be on our website
www.eastbourne.huttcity.com and the HCC website or check at the local library. There are five directly elected board positions with two elected councillors appointed as well. All are open to public election. The term is 3 years.
It is very important to have people who are willing to make time, plus have the ability to contribute widely across many current and new issues. It is valuable to have some turnover each election, I will be stepping aside after six years to support other needy communities. Look for more information on our web site and in the next Herald. You can also speak with a current ECB member. The ECB can and does make a difference.
